Lucha Underground Review (11/9/16)

Open the caskets, let the dead rise from the ground and circle the ring, because this episode is all about GRAVE CONSEQUENCES!!!

Hello my fellow believers, I am your Local Hero, the Review Guy himself, Cameron Mcdonley, and I'M BACK! This time, I will review possibly the most important episode of this show since season 3 began. We're talking about Grave Consequences, we're talking about a ten-man tag team affair with Aztec Warfare, and we're gonna get to Believers Backlash, don't you worry about that! So without too much talking, let's bask in the violence that is Lucha Underground!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our first contest is an opener that is sure to excite, and be home to the weirdest match in all of wrestling, as the miniscule Mascarita Sagrada is set to battle the charismatic manager of Dr. Wagner, the owner of the most over phone number in wrestling, Famous B in a Believers Backlash match. Long story short, the fans surely brought the weapons, and boy were they strange! A large popcorn bag, a football, a portrait, a shoe, trash cans, kendo sticks and multiple other fan induced pains were inflicted on both men, as they used the oddest weapons to exact their revenge on one another until Sagrada used the dreaded foot apparel from resident commentator Matt Striker to obtain the victory. Although it was quite weird that Sagrada cut the head off of a Famous B cutout after the match, it was still fun, and I'd watch it again, simply out of my own enjoyment.

Following a brief embrace between Killshot and Dante Fox who was his former brother in arms, Drago and Cobra Moon were sparring in the backstage area when Moon tells him that Pindar is alive and will make Drago worship Cobra Moon as his queen. Both segments were brief, but were long enough to cause suspense for further angles.

The next match was the aforementioned 5-on-5 tag team encounter that pit the team of Willie Mack, Mariposa, Marty Martinez, Ivelisse and Jeremiah Crane against Killshot, Dante Fox, Cage, Argenis and Texano. While it is not surprising that all ten individuals have a distinct history with one another, it had far more implications than the intertwining rivalries, as the victorious team would be entered into the Aztec Warfare mach next week. All men and women performed exceptionally well, as it was a really solid match with some usual spots and some that are unusual added into the fray. Sadly enough however, my overall feeling on this match was constrained when a freak accident involving Ivelisse caused what seemed to be a very critical injury. Her team obtained the victory, but her appearance in the match is in serious jeopardy.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the palpable tension, the unmistakable intensity of our final match tonight is in the air. The feeling of death is looming around the temple, as two sworn rivals will go to war. One will never be the same and presumably not walk the same way again, and the other will wither away, leaving himself vulnerable to a vicious feast from the Gods upon his limp carcass. Prince Puma, a man who was the face of Lucha Underground for it's entire history must permanently kill Mil Muertes, a man who is synonymous with death and hell himself, one known as the "Man Of 1,000 Deaths" is no individual to take lightly. Neither one of these warriors walked in taking the other lightly, because they knew this was the only way this destructive, brutal and gory war would ever end for good is if their opposition was forced to perish. During this detrimental fight. both men uncovered the most demented and fearless crevices of their minds not to survive, but to ensure that if they met their final breaths this evening, the warrior that they have hatred for will still suffer immensely. Facing their fears to spill blood all over the temple was the objective, and I'll be damned if they didn't complete that objective, but in the end of it all, Mil Muertes claimed another unwilling victims, continuing to add victims to his unrelenting list of humans who paid for their despicable sins.

Not much else to say other than the fact that once again, I was simply left amazed by this spellbinding concoction of a wrestling show. Every week, they consistently put on a phenomenal mixture of solid wrestling and dare I say it, five-star storytelling. I do know this much, Aztec Warfare 3 will be one to remember next week, and it's a certainty that I will be reviewing that, I tell you that right now!
